Julia Montes, born as Mara Hautea Schnittka in
real life on March 19, 1995 is an actress and a commercial model. She was born
in Manila with a German – Filipino descent. She was raised solely by her deaf
mother Gemma Hautea when her German father, Martin Schnittka left them when she
was still a baby. Her grandmother helped raised her.
She started doing television commercials before
she was discovered to become an actress. She was a cast in the television show
in GMA 7 in Sana Ikaw Na Nga, where she starred with Angelu de Leon and Robin
da Rosa. She also appeared in Magpakailanman which is a drama anthology by the
same TV network, GMA 7. Her career as a TV actress was not under the exclusive
contract with GMA 7 so she tried to audition to its rival TV network ABS CBN
where she was given her major break as an actress when she was a casted on the
TV shows Hiram, Goin’ Bulilit, and Mara Clara, Maalaala Mo Kaya, I Love Betty
La Fea and Ligaw na Bulaklak. She became more popular when she took the major
role of Clara in the popular TV show Mara Clara.
She started to take mature roles when she was
paired with Coco Martin in Walang Hanggan and they are being molded as love
team in the movie and television shows. With her budding career as a movie and
television actress, Julia also does print ad commercial modeling and as an
endorse of known brands like Bench, Boardwalk, Rejoice and Sketcher. She also
appeared in movies screen for the films The Reunion, The Strangers, T2,
Caregiver, Way Back Home, Bahay Kubo, and Paano Kita Iibigin? Julia just
recently turned 18 and celebrated her debut with a bash in Fernwood Gardens
with a fairy tale theme. Among her special guests are Coco Martin as her
escort, family and friends. Her Walang Hanggan co-stars are also present like
Susan Roces, Dawn Zulueta and Helen Gamboa
