Legendary
Tanzanian rapper Ambwene Yessayah, known to many as AY has revealed why he has
kept off women since he broke things off with his ex-girlfriend two years ago.
Appearing on
Tanzania’s Chill na Sky show, AY said he loved his ex-partner
so much that it became very difficult to fall in love with a new woman after
the break up.
“When I was dating my ex, I was
convicted she was the right woman for me. I even told myself that if it happens
we part ways, I would stay for long without getting into another relationship,”
said AY.
The Mikono Juu singer further added his ex knew very
well how committed he was to her.
“I told her
that if it happens we break up and she stalks me on the internet to know who
I’m dating, she will get zero information,” he recalled.
The musician
added that he will not rush into a relationship, even if his former flame has
moved on.
“She could
have moved on with her life and gotten a new man, but I have to give myself
time to heal. I have to make sure I am fully ready to commit to a new
relationship,” he added.
The veteran
artist however said their main reason for breaking up was not based on
infidelity issues, but things he would not wish to disclose.
“No,
we did not part ways because either party was unfaithful in the relationship,”
he told Chill na Sky.
When asked
whether the two are on bad terms, AY insisted that they are still friends.
“I have not
cut communication with her; we talk over the phone. Actually I even
contact her mother quite often; she is my good friend,” AY went ahead to
explain.
AY is highly
respected by artists in Tanzania, especially in Hip Hop circles. Recently,
Diamond Platnumz revealed that AY linked him up with Nigeria’s Davido and South
Africa’s consummate video producer, Godfather.
