An Egyptian woman is believed to be the fattest woman
alive after her weight reached an incredible 79 stone. (1,102lbs)
Iman Ahmad Abdulati, 36, from Alexandria in northern
Egypt said she had not left home for 25 years because of her weight problem,
and sitting at home all day she simply got fatter and fatter.
She said that enquiries at local hospitals by her family
had not bought a solution, but after her sister Chaymaa’ Ahmad Abdulati went
public with the problem, she is now hoping to get help.
Chaymaa said that the household consists of her and her
sister and their mother and that their father had died when the girls were
young.
Mother and daughter said a lot of their time is spent
trying to care for Iman, including feeding and cleaning her and providing her
with help in going to the toilet, as she could no longer walk there.
They said that the woman had ended up at home from the
age of 11 after suffering what they believe was a stroke that left her
bedridden.
Prior to that Iman’s problem appeared at birth when she
was born weighing 5 kilogrammes (11 lbs) and had continued growing, struggling
to walk even as a young girl because of her weight and then eventually
suffering a stroke after which there was no chance for her to lose any weight.
She never attended school because of her weight problem,
and medics believe her condition is caused by a fluid retention problem meaning
that large amounts of extra water are being retained in her body.
