Several media outlets, using anonymous sources, report
that the actor is now under investigation by a child welfare agency.
The FBI has told Sky News it is gathering information
into an alleged incident on an aircraft carrying Brad Pitt and his children.
The agency is looking at whether to open an
investigation into allegations Pitt clashed with one of his six children while
on board a plane which landed in Minnesota.
In a statement to Sky News, the FBI said: "[In
response to your inquiry] regarding allegations within the special aircraft
jurisdiction of the United States; specifically, an aircraft carrying Mr Brad
Pitt and his children, the FBI is continuing to gather facts and will evaluate
whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued."
Several media outlets, using anonymous sources, have
reported that the actor is under investigation by a child welfare agency.
The Los Angeles County Department of Children and
Families refused to say whether it was investigating Pitt.
Messages left for Pitt's representatives were not
immediately returned.

Angelina Jolie Pitt filed for divorce on Monday, saying
she came to the decision "for the health of the family".
She has asked for physical custody of the couple's six
children - 15-year-old Maddox, 12-year-old Pax, 11-year-old Zahara, 10-year-old
Shiloh, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
Jolie, 41, and Pitt, 52, known collectively as
Brangelina, married in 2014 after 10 years together.
Their wedding ceremony was a family affair at their
French chateau in the Provence hamlet of Correns, where their children served
as ring bearers and threw flower petals.
It was a few days before they announced the ceremony had
taken place.
The couple first met when they played married spies in
the film Mr And Mrs Smith, when Pitt was still married to Friends star Jennifer
Aniston.
Jolie had been married twice before, to actors Jonny Lee
Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.
Divorce experts say following the split, Jolie and Pitt
will have to agree to a parenting plan, or face a public custody battle in
court.
Both actors have, in separate statements, said their
primary concern was their children and asked for privacy.
Jolie is being represented by divorce lawyer Laura
Wasser, who helped in her divorce from Thornton and has represented Johnny Depp
in his divorce from Amber Heard.
On Wednesday night, French actress Marion Cotillard
released a statement in a bid to end speculation she had anything to do with
the couple's break up.
She is starring with Pitt in the new film 'Allied' and
some reports suggested a relationship between the pair was the reason Jolie
filed for divorce.
In the statement, Cotillard revealed she was pregnant
with her second child by long-term partner Guillaume Canet, and she stressed
her commitment to the Frenchman.
In 2006, Brad and Angelina formed the Jolie-Pitt
Foundation charity, which they helped finance with the millions of dollars they
made selling personal pictures to celebrity magazines.
The foundation donated $8m to charity in its first year.
After years working as a goodwill ambassador for the
United Nations' refugee agency, Jolie was appointed special envoy in 2012.
She has also spoken out against sexual violence against
women.
In addition to their philanthropy, much of the couple's
off-screen public image has been centred on their role as parents.
Jolie won an Oscar for her role in the 1999 film, 'Girl,
Interrupted,' and is the daughter of actor Jon Voight, himself an academy award
winner.
